PERSONAL FROM THE EDITOR OF THE BARNES REVIEW

Most Americans know that vote fraud exists and that elections can be subtly stolen in numerous ways. But many times candidates have been denied their victories by much more insidious and “old-fashioned” subterfuge: bribery, forgery, assassination, the promise of lucrative spoils etc.

From our nation’s earliest elections, back room deals have often been made to deny the candidate with the most votes his proper rewards. Usually the victim of this is a politician with a populist message that scares the bejeebers out of big business or the banksters or the warmongers. Thus our lead story deals with but a few of America’s elections in which the voters were denied the candidate the majority clearly wanted in favor of one supported by the plutocratic elite.

We bring all this up because we have a presidential election coming up very shortly. In November, millions of Americans (and who knows who else) will be heading off to the polls to vote for the candidate of their choice. We expect a lot of wheeling and dealing will be done before then, with vice presidential candidates slated to be chosen and greedy politicians lining up for their rewards for endorsement.

Our lead story will provide you with some background information on just how far candidates (and their powerful backers) will go to make sure a real man of the people never makes it into this nation’s highest office.
